…Back to back top billing shows on the cards
BARCODE Mutare will be lit this weekend as top DJs in the country’s entertainment circles are billed to perform in the eastern border city.
Popular reggae and Zimdancehall duo of Etherton and DJ Flevah of the Judgement Yard movement will be the first to perform on Friday, celebrating DJ Flevah’s 36th birthday bash. DJ Flevah, whose real name is Tendai Tembo is the chief selector of the Harare-based Zimdancehall and reggae movement Judgment Yard, which features on various live performances as well as on local radio stations such as Star FM and ZiFM Stereo.
DJ Flevah who is now well-traveled through their Judgement Yard movement has beyond doubt carved his name in the hall of fame as one DJ who has hoisted the Zimbabwean flag at many high profile gigs across the continent. One of his big breakthroughs was when he got selected in 2014 to play during one of the house parties in the popular DStv reality show Big Brother Africa Hotshots season.
In a telephone interview on Tuesday, Flevah who will actually be turning 36 on Friday said he has been taking his birthday celebrations to different cities for the past few years and this year is Mutare’s turn. “I have always been celebrating my birthday over the years in different cities but this year I decided to take it to Mutare because Mutare is like home to me. Apart from that, we have starved our Mutare fans for the longest. It is going to be a big night, champagne bottles are going to be popped powered by prominent high rollers Boss BeeZee, Boss Moe, Power Circle and King Lusha, who will be the VVIPs,” he said.
The Zimdancehall DJ who has been with Judgement Yard for the past nine years said he remains focused on building the Judgement Yard brand, which they want to be a leading dancehall and reggae movement not only in Zimbabwe but in Africa. “I’ve been more focused on the Judgment Yard Mad Sunday at Dreams Nightclub and pushing our last Judgement Yard Volume 32 Mix as we continue to build our brand,” said Flevah.
Barcode Mutare spokesperson Munei Mwayera said all is set for the DJ Flevah show adding that the weekend party would continue on Saturday with Royal DJs from Harare’s popular upmarket club Pablo’z. Better known as Pablo’s finest, Royal DJs comprise the duo of Juice the strongest DJ and DJ AM who are known to roll with the top socialites like Genius ‘Ginimbi’ Kadungure.
“These will be back to back shows not to miss. We have always been committed to bring the best in the business and this is what we are doing. We are bringing top DJs in the business to Mutare for our revelers. The club opens as usual from 9pm till late. Cover charge will be US$2 general ticket and $10 VIP or the equivalent in our local currency,” said Mwayera.
The resident DJs Cesh, Stylez, Man Gee, Qu3 will be on the decks as usual, supported by DJ Sachie and MC Cut.
