…Early Christmas present for Mutare revelers
IT will no doubt be a musical bliss on Saturday in Mutare at Manicaland Motoring Club with the star studded line-up of artists billed to perform.
The show starts at 4pm.
Whilst the headliner is the charismatic, multi-award winning artist, Jah Prayzah, real name Mukudzeyi Mukombe, the supporting acts are also top entertainers currently basking in glory with big hits this year, the likes of Feli Nandi and ExQ. The melodious diva Feli Nandi is riding high with her songs like Nguva and Mubayei that have literally become jingles on radio, whilst the ladies heartthrob ExQ , born, Enock Munhenga, as usual is a perennial hit-maker with his latest tracks like ‘Sweeter’ and ‘Amour’ which features Jah Prayzah also trending. The budding songbird Kim Makumbe of the track Kuzvipira which is also doing well on the charts will also be among the star attractions of the show.
Jah Prayzah who was recently on tour in Australia with Baba Harare will be out to prove if he can draw the same over-subscribed record attendance that he drew at the same venue last year in September. On his instagram handle on Tuesday the lanky, stylish musician posted a video where he promised revelers in Mutare fireworks. Wagwizi as he is affectionately known by his fans, is also celebrating another international accolade to his name after scooping the African Entertainment Awards USA (AEAUSA) best male artist in East, South and North Africa at a ceremony held last Saturday in the United States of America. He beat continental music heavyweights like Diamond Platinumz, Focalistic and Harmonize that were nominees for the category. Winky D (Wallace Chirumiko) and Gemma Griffiths also bagged awards at the same ceremony making Zimbabwe one of the big winners of the night in the music categories of the 9th edition of the annual AEAUSA, which celebrate not only African music, but 50 entertainment categories ranging from music, film, sport, fashion among others.
The show being organized by Harare based promoters, Capital Promotions, is beyond doubt expected to be an early Christmas present for revelers in the eastern border city. The spokesperson for the show and one of the local promoters, DJ Spy, real name Leslie Mwatongera, in an interview with Easterntimeszim Entertainment on Tuesday confirmed that all is place for the show and so far 2500 advance tickets have been sold.
“We are ensuring that there will be security barricades and tight security for the safety of our patrons. The police will also help us in that area with security dogs. For advance tickets, ordinary tickets are US$10 and VIP US$20, but at the gate it will be US$15 and US$30 for the same tickets. So people should buy advance tickets,” said the prominent Mutare DJ, known for his ‘Beats in the Bush’ outdoor entertainment events.
Other supporting acts on the local front will be the songstress Rutendo Jackie whose soulful and engaging Afro jazz music is now fast growing in the music industry, Assegai Crew of the Kanyama Karipi timeless hit-song, BlackFirm Band and Afro Blue Band as well as various top disc jockeys that will entertain in between breaks.
Manicaland Motoring Club is now the most sought after outdoor venue for big music concerts because of its spacious nature. The arena which can accommodate about 5000 people without restrictions has over the years staged many celebrated names in Zimbabwe’s music industry as well as some regional music stars like South Africa’s Makhadzi who performed in April this year.
