THE musical, Jazzy Fridays’ at Holiday Inn Mutare are still going strong for the mature music lovers since the inception of the concept in March. Last Friday locally based Afro-jazz songbird Rutendo Jackie and her band literally lit the hotels bar on fire leaving patrons begging for more from her.

She performed for the first time at the bar taking over from the invigorating locally based mbira ensemble Ntswai Ntswai led by Lino Piloto that has been the resident act since the launch on 15 March. Rutendo whose musical career spans back to early 2000s, had however taken a sabbatical from music for a long time, but is promising to make a come back and her lively top-notch performance proved that she still has a kick left in her voice.

Meanwhile, tonight Ntswai Ntswai is back to entertain. One can never get enough of their captivating contemporary mbira fusion sound and their energetic performance. The veteran musician Piloto who has groomed many local artistes urged all afro-jazz and mbira lovers to come and support local talent.

“As usual we will be bringing our A’ performance and energy. We want to show people that Ntswai Ntswai music is the best. We will do our own tracks and perform some classic renditions of old time greats as usual, so come and lets enjoy and relax on Friday together,” said Piloto.

The show starts at 7pm as usual.
