A 30-years old Sakubva man, Archlove Joe Zviuya was yesterday (Tuesday) slapped with a six (6) months jail term after being caught in possession of dagga (Mbanje or Marijuana) that weighed 28.89 grams.
Zviuya pleaded guilty to the charge. Since he pleaded guilty and not waste the courts time, Mutare Magistrate Honest Musiiwa sentenced him to six (6) months in prison. Two months will be suspended on condition of good behaviour. So he will effectively serve four months.
According to the State outline police detectives received a tip off last week Thursday that the accused person who resides at number 150 Chitungo in the high density suburb of Sakubva was in possession of dangerous drugs at another house in the neighbourhood, number 75 Chitungo.
The three detectives acted swiftly on the information and went to the house. They found the accused there and introduced themselves by producing their police identification cards and informed him of their inquest. The detectives conducted a body search and found him with a plastic bread bag containing loose dagga which was in the right side pocket of the shorts he was wearing .
Magistrate Musiiwa warned him to refrain from taking or selling illegal drugs or risk serving a longer jail term if caught again. He said the 28, 89 grams of dagga that has a street value of ZiG 120 will be destroyed.
